Hell Has Frozen Over: Watchmen Getting a Prequel

It seems like the evil geniuses at DC are up to it again. After the super success of the DC Reboot proved to me I needed more I need more Aquaman in my life, what else could DC do to prove themselves as absolute beasts in the comic industry? How about creating prequels to one of Time Magazine’s 100 best novels EVER and the winner of the Hugo Award? Oh yes. There is only one comic I could be talking about – Alan Moore’s Watchmen.
Supposedly, there are four prequel series in the works. And they are to take some of the main characters and put them in Pre-Watchmen stories. This something I could possibly deal with seeing, if it’s handled correctly. Sure, I’d love to see Rorschach kicking more ass! But Watchmen is to comics what Gone to the Wind is to the cinema. It’s a masterpiece that everyone that participates in the medium has had an experience with. Will these proposed prequels add new segments to readers’ collective experiences with Watchmen that we’ll remember fondly? Or will it leave us with a bad taste in our mouth like X-men Origins: Wolverine? Only time will tell.
Take a look at the team on this secret project:  Wanted’s JG Jones, Eisner Award winning writer Darwyn Cooke,Flashpoint artist Andy Kubert, and Watchmen’s ORIGINAL  artist and colorist (Dave Gibbons and John Higgins, respectively). That is some dream team. It gives me hope.
Don’t be silly. Of course, Alan Moore isn’t involved. I’m sure he will make his opinions known soon though
